One of the first official WordCamps of 2024 is kicking off at Kolkata, India on January 6, 2024 as a CareerCamp.
This is a WordCamp with an interesting twist – it deviates from the usual format that most of us are familiar with. This CareerCamp aims to help WordPress firms connect with other professionals in the WordPress community, like WordPress developers, content creators, SEO and marketing experts, graphic designers and others.
It is a job fair if you want to use that term, but more informal – where in one can approach any experienced professional for advice on how to prepare themselves for a full-time career in WordPress, work as a freelancer or get started as an entrepreneur.
It is planned as a smaller gathering than most WordCamps, restricted to around 150 attendees. The day long event has several interesting talks, most of which focus on building careers in WordPress. According to their website, this aims to bridge the gap between tech experts and those who are at different stages in their professional journey.

While WordCamps are always attended by extremely helpful and friendly WorPress-ers, having a career-centric WordCamp, can help introverts who might be eager to build a career in WordPress but don’t know whom to approach and how.
Next Gen WordCamps
A few months ago, in May, 2023 – the idea of Next Gen WordCamps, was proposed – to encourage the community to try out different formats for WordCamps, as an experiment. That discussion has led to this CareerCamp, which I believe, can really help freshers and experienced entrepreneurs as well.
While a few of these experimental WordCamps have already been held in 2023, it will be interesting to see if there are any changes to the way WordCamps are conducted, in 2024.
